How We Find Pool Leaks

Our four-step detection process uses industry-leading equipment to locate leaks with precision — no guesswork, no unnecessary digging.

Step 1

Sonar Listening Equipment

High-end specialized sonar gear pinpoints leak locations by detecting the sound of escaping water through pool shells, plumbing, and structural joints.

Step 2

Pressure Testing of Lines

Each return line, skimmer, and main drain is isolated and pressure-tested to identify underground plumbing failures with certainty.

Step 3

Underwater Dive Assessment

Chris personally dives to inspect main drains, deep-end lights, vinyl liner tears, and skimmer throats using dye kits and electronic detection.

Step 4

Video Documentation & Report

Complete video documentation with location markers, water loss graphs, and a written report for your records or insurance claims.

7 Signs Your Pool Has a Leak

Not sure if you need leak detection? If you notice any of these symptoms, it is worth getting a professional assessment before the problem gets worse.

  • Losing more than 1/4 inch of water per day
  • Soggy or mushy spots in the yard near the pool
  • Algae blooms despite balanced chemistry
  • Air bubbles visible in the pump basket
  • Autofill running constantly
  • Cracks in the plaster or concrete shell
  • Water level dropping faster on hot vs cool days

Try the Bucket Test First

Step 1: Fill a 5-gallon bucket with pool water and place it on a pool step so the water level inside matches the pool.

Step 2: Mark the water level inside the bucket and the pool level outside with tape or a marker.

Step 3: Wait 24 hours with the pump off. Compare the two levels.

Result: If the pool level dropped more than the bucket, you have a leak. If they dropped the same amount, it is just evaporation.
